Week 8 College Football Preview

Week 8 College Football Preview

Picks: Texas(-6), Kansas(-19), UCONN(+3), Alabama (-13), LSU(-2), Arizona(+2)

Last week: 4-4

Wow that was one crazy week of football we witnessed last weekend.  There were tons of upsets and now with last night lose at TCU we have even fewer number of undefeated teams.  If last weeks games should us anything is that the Big 12 is really good and the SEC might be living off reputation more then actual ability

I start last week off by talking about the best game in country which was Texas vs. Oklahoma; well it looks like Texas is again in the top game of the weekend this time against Missouri.  I was way off last week when I predicted the Tigers would roll the Oklahoma State Cowboys.  Missouri has a lot to prove this week, they have not fared very well in big game and they have to show that they can be elite football teams in order to become one.  The Longhorns are rolling right now and Mizzu will have a tough time stopping them.  Lay the points and take Texas.

The other marquee game of the weekend has to do with the loosing end of that great game last weekend as Oklahoma tries to right it ship against Kansas.  Kansas has proven it can score but still has yet to show a lot on defense and Oklahoma is a couple of plays away from being number one team country. But 20 points is a lot so I like Kansas with the pint in this one.

SEC

With all that excitement last weekend you tend to forget that Alabama sits at number two still undefeated.  They will be taking on a gritty Ole Miss team that will surprise some people just ask the Florida Gators.  With the Tide sitting on a 13 point line it’s tempting to pick the underdog but not this weekend, tide rolls in this one.

Big 10

Penn State looks like the real deal and Mich just came off one of the most embarrassing loses in school history, there is no chance for an upset here but maybe the Wolverines can cover.   Ohio State will take on a very one dimensional Mich State school that have people rumbling about a dark horse team; I just don’t see it happening here OSU over MSU.

Pac 10

Arizona lost a heart break game last week to Stanford which would have gone a long way to legitimizing their team and season.  With that in mind I think there is a chance for them to rebound at home vs. California and upset the bears.  On  the other side of that game Stanford is running a very physical team out on to the field something the Bruins don’t have much of, I see Stanford controlling that game and winning easily.
