Picks: Fla(-4), Tex(+7), Mizzu(-13), Neb (+21), UGA(-13), Kentucky(-1), Penn ST(-5), Clem(+3) and Arizona(-6)
This weekend in college football has some very intriguing match ups most notably LSU vs. University of Florida and the Red River Shootout Texas vs. Oklahoma. These two game pin four National Champion hopefuls, thus after the weekend we shall see who indeed among them really is worthy of a berth to the National Championship game
I would always recommend taking the home team when it comes to evenly matched rivalry games, but Oklahoma is sporting a seven point line which seems awful big against another top ten undefeated team. I think Texas will surprise people by keeping this won close and covering. The football population is down on UT because of their recent disappointing season but they are a good team lets see if they can go toe to toe with probably the most well rounded team in the country.
The other big game this weekend, Florida vs. LSU, will be a low scoring game in my opinion. LSU big victory this year was them beating Auburn, but now after a couple of weeks seeing the inept offense of Auburn I am not sure what to think of the vaunted LSU defense. I am sure they are good but how good are they really. Tim Teabow has not looked the same as the Hiesman he was last year and the play calling for Florida has been a bit questionable at times this season. Still I have learnt before not to pick against the Gator in the swamp and with the line currently sitting at four that seem like a great play for them to cover.
Big 12
There is another game in the big 12 crucial to the outcome of that league and that is Mizzu vs. Oklahoma State. The suprising OSU Cowboys are undefeated thus far through the season and yet the only thing people know about the team is that their coach is a man and forty. Well here two other things you can know about them they can score and they can’t stop anyone from scoring. This one is going to be a high scoring affair and I don’t believe OSU will be able to stop Chase Daniels and Macklin. Thus I would take Mizzu with the points.
One other game I think Texas Tech will beat Nebraska but not cover.
SEC
Other then the big game already talked about nothing really exciting happening in the SEC. Georgia will be able to beat up on a Tenn that has not been as good as their reputation has been for a long time. One upset alter South Carolina thinks they are better then they really are maybe Kentucky can sneak a fast one by them.
Big 10
Penn St play Wisc. At Madison, if not for the fact this is an away game for the Nittny Lions it would be a blow out but since it is I think it will be closer then expected but PSU should be able to cover.
I not really sure I have to even talk about the PAC 10, ACC or Big East
Thursday night has a kind of interesting game between Wake Forest and Clemson. No one is impressed by what Clemson has done this season maybe being the most disappointing team in college football, but I am still not sure if I buy into WF yet. I am still inclined to believe the Tigers will turn it around and upset the Deconds.
As for the Pac 10 the only game of interest for me is Arizona vs. Stanford only because I am a Wildcat Alum. Arizona desperately needs a win here to validate their early season success in which their opponent’s record is 7-20. Zona easily covers the spread and beat up on the Cardinal.
