What an unbelievably intense game that last night between the angels and the Red Sox took place last night? The game started at about 4:30 and from the first pitch all the way to the last ball hit by Alex Cora I was on the edge of my seat.
Too say that was a big win for the Angels depends on what happens in tonight’s game. If the Angels go out and play hard tonight but come up a little short then it will just be a nice memory to remember the 2008 season and not such a complete disaster it would have been had they been swept. But if they can some how pull out another win tonight; then it would obviously force game five back a home where its anyone’s series for the taking and the game last night would be a classic.
After the first inning when the Angels only managed to scrape one run across the plate after loading the bases and then the crazy three run single that could have gone down as the worst post season blunder by the Angels; I had a bad feeling like I have seen this show before. But from nowhere the hitting hero of the night came through with a 2 run and solo shot and Mike Napoli will always be remembered as a clutch performer even if that it is a little hyperbolae.
From that point on some how the bullpen for the Angels were able to shut down the Red Sox. With Scot Shield facing his demands and being able to finally pitch well in Fenway and against the heart of the order. Fransisco then came in for a very nervous inning that I thought the season could be over for the Angels on any pitch he threw. Finally Weaver came out of the bullpen for the first time in his career and right off the bat had to face David Ortiz who kills him. Surprisingly he was very composed and was a able to work two strong innings in relief.
Angels must not waste last night great performance and take advantage of the opportunity they have tonight with their ace in John Lackey on the mound. Time will only tell if last nights game was indeed a classic or just delaying the inevitable doom that seems to always be awaiting the Angels when they face the Boston Red Sox.
