Week 13 College Football Preview

Last week: 5-0 Season: 22-16

This weeks picks: Penn St, Utah, Orgn St, TX Tech, BC, TCU, Boi St, E Car

Its sounds like a broken record by now but yet again the game of the week is in the Big 12 south.  This game could decide who will end up in the National Championship game. Texas Tech will be going on the road for this big showdown unlike the other ones which were played in Lubbock, TX.  Tech still seems too not get any respect by the odds makers as they are a seven point dog to the sooners.  I wonder if the number two team in the nation has ever been such a big dog.   I think OU will win this game but I am take Tech and the point, hopefully this game will not disappoint like some many others this year.

Week 12 College Football Preview

Last Week: 3-3 Season: 17-16

Weeks Picks: Cinci (-4), Va Tech (+4), USC (-22), OSU (-3), Oregon (-3.5), BYU (-4)

I have to say I am very impressed by the Texas Tech football team.  I really believe there would be a hang over from the prior week and lay an egg vs. Ok State but hey went out and proved they are an elite team.  They still have a couple more tough games but I am stating to believe they can run the table and be in the national championship game.  Then again I wouldn’t be surprised if they lost vs. Oklahoma in two weeks.

Not too many big games this weekend , but there is a critical game for Cincinnati on Friday when they take on the Lousville Cardinals.  The Bearcats control their own destiny in the Big East and should win and cover this one easily, then have a huge game vs. Pitt next week.

Week 11 College Football Preview

This Week Picks: Oklahoma State (+13), Utah (-1.5), Alabama (-2.5), Cal (+18.5), Penn St (-8) and Kansas (-1.5)

Last week: 1-4 Season: 14-13

Wow! That was one hell of a game between Texas and Texas Tech.  It did not disappoint at all with Tech winning on a last second TD grab tight rope walking down the sideline.  Now who knows where we stand moving forward towards the national championship game? One thing we know for sure is that if Penn State and Alabama win out they most likely will meet in the big game, but if college football has taught us anything in the past is that seems very unlikely.   This week is no different from the past couple where the Big 12 has another monster game on its schedule this time UT or OU will not be taking part in it.  This time around it is Texas Tech vs. Oklahoma State, Tech is coming off it biggest win in school history and OSU I think is still underrated.  I  think Texas Tech will still have a hangover from last weeks emotional win and the Cowboys will come away with this victory easily.

Week 10 College Football Preview

This Weeks Picks: Tex (-3.5), Mizzu (-20), FSU (-1.5), Oregon (+3), Fla (-5 ½)

Season:13-9 (59%)

Yet again the top game of the week involves the number one ranked and undefeated Texas Longhorns.  This week they will be facing the high flying Texas Tech offense.  This will be no easy task defeating a really good Tech team which is also undefeated in the Big 12 so far.  If the Longhorns avoid the upset, they will have gone on to win one of the most grueling stretches of conference play I have ever seen.  I think they will be so motivate they will not have a let down and will cover the seven point spread.

The other huge game this weekend with National Title implications will be “The World Largest Cocktail Part” although I heard some where they don’t want to be called that anymore.  Anyway Georgia will be hosting Florida this weekend and the looser of this game will have their dreams of National Championship blown away.  Both teams seem to be clicking right now after early season stumble.  I think the SEC has been vastly over rater this season especially Georgia; I have no idea why they were ranked so high to begin the season.  I think the Gators will cover the 5 ½ line even though they will be on the road.

Week 9 College Football Preview Picks: Ok State (+13), Kansas (-2), PSU(-2), Tenn (+7), Arizona (+15), Va Tech (+4 ½) Last week: 5-1 Season: 9-5 (64%) It feels like all I have been talking about in these previews have been The Texas Longhorns and I guess rightfully so they are the number one team in the nation and looks like it. Texas’ daunting schedule with four ranked teams in a row gets a little easier in my opinion with Oklahoma State Cowboys coming to town. Texas has been saying all the right things about being ranked number one in the first installment of the BCS but talk is good and execution is better. The line is already at 13 which seem kind of big given that OSU is ranked in the top 10 but Colt McCoy is completed 80% of his passes which is unheard of in football, co

Week 8 College Football Preview

Picks: Texas(-6), Kansas(-19), UCONN(+3), Alabama (-13), LSU(-2), Arizona(+2)

Last week: 4-4

Wow that was one crazy week of football we witnessed last weekend.  There were tons of upsets and now with last night lose at TCU we have even fewer number of undefeated teams.  If last weeks games should us anything is that the Big 12 is really good and the SEC might be living off reputation more then actual ability

I start last week off by talking about the best game in country which was Texas vs. Oklahoma; well it looks like Texas is again in the top game of the weekend this time against Missouri.  I was way off last week when I predicted the Tigers would roll the Oklahoma State Cowboys.  Missouri has a lot to prove this week, they have not fared very well in big game and they have to show that they can be elite football teams in order to become one.  The Longhorns are rolling right now and Mizzu will have a tough time stopping them.  Lay the points and take Texas.

Picks: Fla(-4), Tex(+7), Mizzu(-13), Neb (+21), UGA(-13), Kentucky(-1), Penn ST(-5), Clem(+3) and Arizona(-6)

This weekend in college football has some very intriguing match ups most notably LSU vs. University of Florida and the Red River Shootout Texas vs. Oklahoma.   These two game pin four National Champion hopefuls, thus after the weekend we shall see who indeed among them really is worthy of a berth to the National Championship game

I would always recommend taking the home team when it comes to evenly matched rivalry games, but Oklahoma is sporting a seven point line which seems awful big against another top ten undefeated team.  I think Texas will surprise people by keeping this won close and covering.  The football population is down on UT because of their recent disappointing season but they are a good team lets see if they can go toe to toe with probably the most well rounded team in the country.

Well I  asked the question yesterday if Sunday nights game was a thriller or just another stepping stone to yet again crushing Angels defeat by the Red Sox.  That answer was a successful bunt away from being yes.

Had Erik Aybar made contact with the baseball on the attempted squeeze play; this series would have been on the verge of being all time great.  But in the end the Angels yet again were not able to come through we needed to the most and with some spotty defensive plays are out of the playoff before reaching their ultimate goal of world series.

I will not go out and say this season was a disaster.  The team won more game then it has ever had in it history and they gave its fans entertainment throughout the year.  Although I would not deem this year as a success since it generated such lofty expectations.

What an unbelievably intense game that last night between the angels and the Red Sox took place last night? The game started at about 4:30 and from the first pitch all the way to the last ball hit by Alex Cora I was on the edge of my seat.

Too say that was a big win for the Angels depends on what happens in tonight’s game.  If the Angels go out and play hard tonight but come up a little short then it will just be a nice memory to remember the 2008 season and not such a complete disaster it would have been had they been swept.  But if they can some how pull out another win tonight; then it would obviously force game five back a home where its anyone’s series for the taking and the game last night would be a classic.

WOW did that game last night look early similar to previous playoff games in years past. I guess fool heartedly I went into these playoffs with a bit more confidence then I have ever before.  With the new additions to the lineup and the fact that Manny is gone and Ortiz does not look the same I thought we would for sure have the advantage over the Red Sox.  Well I guess something never changes.  We are on the verge of being dominated by one team in the playoffs more then any other team has ever been.  With one more lose in a row the Red Sox with break the record of consecutive playoff victories in a row against one opponent.I feel the key to the angel’s offense is two fold.  The obvious one is the need for more then just singles to score some runs.  The
